LOCATION

With an area of little more than 365 hectares (900 acres) Shoby is described as a "small parish" some 4.5 miles west by north of Melton Mowbray.
Shoby Lodge Farmhouse is a spacious, comfortable, tastefully furnished establishment where you can enjoy an Aga-cooked breakfast and beatiful views of the surrounding agricultural countryside: it is set in attractive gardens to which guests have access .
Coarse fishing is available on the farm by arrangement with the proprietors.
Situtated in the Quorn Hunt country of High Leicestershire (nearby the 13 acres Shoby Scholes covert is in their ownership following a donation from Mr. and Mrs. F. D. H. Joy) the property is at an elevation of 106m above sea level in close proximity to Ragdale Hall Health Spa, Six Hills Jet-ski Centre, Six Hills Golf Course and its Fairways Restaurant.

The Midshires Way is a long distance bridleway and footpath across Middle England. For the most part, the Midshires Way follows public bridleways or quiet country lanes. Wherever possible on road sections, alternative footpath routes have been waymarked to assist walkers. It is approximately 225 miles long and links the Ridgeway with the Trans-Pennine Way, thus opening up the possibilities of a long walk or ride along the length of England.
The Leicestershire section is about 30 miles long and Section 6 - Brooksby to Shoby (3 miles) and Section 7 - Shoby to Nottinghamshire boundary (4 miles) pass alongside Shoby Lodge Farm. Full details of this can be obtained from the Leicestershire County Council website.

The nearest Church is at Grimston.
