DECLARATION DAY MEET

East Midlands
Melton Airfield

This special day was about hunting, shooting and fishing and also the right to live in a tolerant society, free from prejudice and discrimination. It was a chance for people to signify their peaceful intention to maintain their existing right to hunt - a protest against the proposed hunting ban. The organisation of this and many other Meets was a joint effort between the Countryside Alliance, Council of Hunting Associations, M.F.H.A. and thousands of like-minded people.

Kipling wrote of the Saxon:
"When he stands like an ox in the furrow with his sullen set eyes on your own, and grumbles, 'This isn't fair dealing,' my son, leave the Saxon alone"
On this day from dawn to noon we stood on agricultural land and set our eyes on Westminster....
