MELTON MOWBRAY ONE DAY EVENT 2003
Wednesday 13th August 2003

On 6th August 2003 in Hyde Park, London there was a special parade to mark the centenary of the Remount Depot in Melton Mowbray. Now known as the Defence Animal Centre although colloquially by the older residents of the town as "the RAVC Camp" it is the only centre of its kind in the United Kingdom. Military equestrianism still has an important place in today's British Army. By kind permission of the Commandant, Colonel Douglas A Macdonald (who took the salute on the auspicious day in Hyde Park) the Army School of Equitation staged its One Day Event again with the blessing of excellent weather and a good turn out.
Run under British Eventing Rules the 12 Sections ensured that all competitors and classes had a most enjoyable day.
