THE POST-HUNTING BAN PARADE
Melton Mowbray

19th February 2005

Irrespective of your views - for or against foxhunting - this was a unique event and a magnificent spectacle.
Some 600 riders from the Quorn, the Belvoir and the Cottesmore hunts and the Oakley Foot Beagles were cheered by almost 3,000 onlookers and supporters as they passed through the town on a mile-long circuit.
The route took the procession from the Scalford Road Car Park adjacent to the Cattle Market, down Scalford Road, left into Norman Way to Thorpe End, right to the former Carnegie Library (now the Museum), along Sage Cross Street, and back along Chapel Street to Scalford Road and the car park from where each of the hunts dispersed to their respective countries for a short post-Ban testing run.
