SAXELBYE - FEBRUARY 2005
as war clouds gather

The Quorn, out in force, with many supporters, met at Glebe Farm on a dull February morning, knowing the Hunting Bill would come into force in 13 days' time.

Away to the north, towards Belvoir country

quietly waiting  but with an air of anticipation

Quietly waiting, but with an air of anticipation

though showing they sensed something in the air

'though showing they sensed "something in the air" that was different today

a meeting has been arranged
nevertheless "a meeting has been arranged" to coin a phrase

The battle lines are being drawn, the rules of engagement are well-known and when the balloon goes up.......
Cream Gorse covert will be the venue for a three-horse hunting day on 17th February, courtesy of Mrs. J. Crosfield the landowner and "We shall hunt 'til dark, and if they wish, people can change horses twice during the day to keep going," senior joint-master Joss Hanbury is reported as saying.
And on Saturday 19th February the Cattle Market, Melton Mowbray will be the centre for a gathering of the Belvoir, the Cottesmore and the Quorn and hopefully many, many supporters.
